Once the child receives a comprehensive assessment with a recommended treatment plan tailored to meet the individual needs of each child and family, he or she participates in individual, group, or family therapy. Special modalities such as play therapy, behavioral interventions, or medication may be used to augment verbal therapies as needed. A strong emphasis is also placed on parent guidance services to help parents and guardians explore, understand and resolve issues they may have in relation to the child's problems and to support the development of effective parenting and behavior management skills. Care coordination and advocacy are also provided to help families access other services that they need for their safety, stability, and functioning.
