Child, Adolescent, and Family Therapy |
| |
The cornerstone of the Child Guidance Center for nearly 55 years, this program provides a broad range of comprehensive individualized mental health assessments and treatment services under non-emergency circumstances. Symptoms may include anxiety, depression, obsessive thoughts, eating disorders, delinquent behavior, etc. Sometimes these problems are precipitated by difficult life circumstances such as divorce or death of a parent or loved one, a parent loosing his or her job, chronic or life threatening illness of the child or parent, etc.Our clinical staff provides highly specialized mental health assessments developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to meet the individual needs of each child and family. Treatment options include individual, group, or family therapy with medication to augment verbal therapies when needed. Special treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral or play therapy are utilized with children best suited to these approaches. Care coordination and advocacy are provided to help families manage multiple needs and reduce negative stressors. Parents, guardians or other caregivers are active partners in developing treatment plans focusing on the identified strengths and needs of each family member, and supporting the enhancement of effective parenting and behavior management skills.
