The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut has named Susan Jasko, LCSW Clinical Coordinator for its newly relocated Darien office at 972 Post Road. Jasko has been a clinician at CGC’s Darien office since it opened in 2002. In her new position, she will continue her clinical duties providing professional mental health services to children and families while collaborating with area youth-serving agencies and schools to enhance the human services network that responds to Darien families. In addition, she will help coordinate public education programs, advocate for children’s mental health issues, be available for consultations and act as a general resource on children’s issues for the Darien community.
Last year, CGC’s Darien office provided mental health diagnostic and treatment services to nearly 90 children, adolescents, and their families. Of those treated, 38% were suicidal, 28% had developmental or learning disabilities and another 28% experienced high child-parent conflict.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to work with others who care so much about the youth in this community,” said Susan Jasko, Clinical Coordinator of the CGC Darien office. “Our new space will enable CGC to expand services, see more patients and join forces with other community resources in order to better serve the children and families of Darien.”
Jasko joined CGC in 2001 as clinical social worker. In this position, she provided treatment services to children, adolescents and families, supervised the Center’s graduate interns and taught student seminars. Prior to CGC, Jasko spent three years as a social worker at The Guidance Center in New Rochelle, New York. Before that, Jasko spent five years as a clinical social worker at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
Jasko earned a bachelor of science degree in social welfare from Niagara University in Niagara Falls, New York and received a master’s in social work from Fordham University in New York City. In addition, she is a candidate for graduation from the child and adolescent psychoanalytic training program at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York City. Jasko is a lecturer on childhood disorders at the New York University School of Social Work, Rockland County campus. She has served on the Ethics Committee of the New York branch of the National Association of Social Workers and is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers.
