The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut ( CGC) is getting a little help from its friends with the official launch of a new name and logo for the Greenwich Chapter of the Friends of the Child Guidance Center. The group recently held a coffee at the home of Friends member, Mary Kay Henson, to introduce the Chapter’s new name and logo: Get Psyched! Advocates for Children’s Mental Health.

The event was also an opportunity to discuss new initiatives for the year. Upcoming projects include a parent education workshop and a Read-a-thon to raise funds for a parent-child resource library at CGC offices. Greenwich residents Debby Jones Lash and Laurel Forst serve as the co-chairs for “Get Psyched!”.

“This is a very exciting time for the group, with the unveiling of our new name and logo and officially getting some events on the planning board,” said Lash. “Our tagline – ‘advocates for children’s mental health’ – really embodies our mission. We’re not mental health professionals; we’re community advocates who are passionately committed to improving the lives of parents and children by supporting CGC’s professional mental health services and programs.”

The goals of Get Psyched! include facilitating community education programs led by CGC professionals and raising awareness of and providing financial support for CGC’s services, especially those in Greenwich.

“The Child Guidance Center is very fortunate to have the support of Get Psyched! members,” said Dr. Fenia Weiller, clinical administrator of the CGC’s Greenwich office. “Their efforts will help us leverage CGC’s mental health expertise and enable us to reach more Greenwich families.”
