CGC receives $12,000 Grant from First County Bank

The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut (CGC), a non-profit mental health resource serving children and their families in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, and New Canaan, has been awarded a $12,000 grant from First County Bank Foundation. In its sixth year of giving, the Foundation awarded over $460,000 to 48 agencies promoting community and economic development as well as child, youth and family services as well as other important causes.

The $12,000 grant will benefit CGC’s Emergency Mobile Crisis Services, a program that provides mental health assessment and crisis stabilization services 24-hours a day, seven days a week. In the aftermath of a traumatic event, family crisis or other high-risk situation, CGC clinicians can respond whenever and wherever they are needed in the community. With a special focus on youth suicide prevention, CGC clinicians work with youngsters and families to resolve the immediate situation and prevent future crises from occurring.

Each year, the First County Bank Foundation makes it a point to give back to the communities they serve,” said CGC Director of Crisis Services, Dr. Deborah Matthews. “We are grateful to be recognized by an organization that shares our vision to help children and families in lower Fairfield County.”
